Time And Skills

We are always in need of volunteers to "donate" their time and skills to help uplift our children.

Volunteering Opportunities

  • Mentor for a child (requires further completion of forms)
  • Assist to organize functions
  • Transport children to and from therapy or hospital/ ID or passport applications
    learners and drivers appointments. Opening bank accounts.
  • Render therapeutic services
  • Financial support
  • Assist with home work
  • Assist with arts and crafts groups
  • Assist with sports groups
  • Supervision of children from time to time
  • Present modelling/drama/ dance classes
  • Dive For Life (Scuba Project)
  • Assist to repair bicycles
  • Assist with Christian groups
  • Supervision of children who have being suspended from school
    (must be available in the morning)
  • Get involved with a certain house
  • Assistance in the computer room
  • AND MANY MORE !!

How does the volunteer procedure work?

•Download the forms and please complete. Kindly note that the second OR third pages (depending on your language preference) must be signed by yourself and a commissioner of oaths (can be done at any police station)

•Please fax completed forms to 012 800 1443 (for the attention of Charlene) or email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

•Every Wednesday the social workers have a meeting (you do not need to attend this meeting)  where they discuss each application and approve your involvement at Jakaranda or Louis Botha Children’s Home’s

•Charlene will send you an email by no later than Thursday with feedback as to whether you have being approved or not and who your contact person is

•You then email your contact person and make an appointment to come in for an interview, where further information is given and details are discussed.

•Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated!
